ATTENTION BANNER USERS OR OTHER EMPLOYEES THAT HANDLE SENSITIVE DATA: Do you
have ESP? Can you afford to have the EMU sensitive data you handle at risk? Let the DoIT Security Team help
you protect data on your electronic devices with the Eagle Security Package (ESP). In a 2-hour training session
you will install and be trained on EMU provided software, DUO (two-factor authentication) and LastPass
(encrypted password vault), absolutely free. You’ll also receive advice on other ways you can keep your data
secure. Don’t put sensitive data at risk, we encourage EMU employees to sign up for a session. Additional

ATTENTION VPN USERS: VPN ACCESS REQUEST PROCEDURE HAS CHANGED: The new VPN
access request process:
Using a computer connected to the WIRED network on the EMU main campus. Visit VPN Access
Process Information.
Login with your NetID and password, if prompted.
Click the “Request VPN Access” link.
In the "Why you need VPN Access" dialog, enter a one-sentence justification that accurately reflects
your basic business need for access.
Click “Submit Request.” Once approved, the requester will receive an email message with information
on how to download and install the VPN client software.
Current VPN users: Employees that registered during the Summer term do not need to repeat the registration
process. All other users that need VPN access must register using this new process described above. All users
that register will receive the standard welcome email, but you do not need to update your client software.
Effective October 1, 2015: VPN accounts without a renewal request on file will be purged from the system until

A DAY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE KEYNOTE AND LUNCHEON: The School of Social Work invites you to a
luncheon and a keynote speech by social justice advocate Yvonne Willis-Dulin, followed by an afternoon of

AGING STUDIES PROGRAM ANNUAL LECTURE: The EMU Aging Studies Program is excited to host
Adam Marks, MD, MPH, clinical assistant professor in the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at the
U of M and medical director for Arbor Palliative Care. Marks will lecture on "Death and Dying in America:
Straight Talk about a Difficult Topic," on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 4 - 6:30 p.m. in the McKenny Ballroom.
This year's lecture will engage students, alumni, faculty/staff and community members in a discussion about
end-of-life issues, reviewing the history of care and providing insights to the future. An interdisciplinary panel
response will follow the lecture along with a light hors d'oeuvres reception. This presentation is free and open to

* THE SEARCH MARKETING WORKSHOP 2015: The EMU Center for Digital Engagement invites you to
the Search Marketing Workshop on Friday, Nov. 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.
This workshop will offer useful information to help you get the most out of digital marketing and make sense of
all the different possibilities available to you. You will learn powerful strategies from major thought leaders of
major companies, organizations, EMU faculty researchers and students. There will be a Q & A session. Visit

* CARNIVAL NIGHT AT THE COMMONS: Embrace the child in you at The Commons for Carnival Night
on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 4 - 8 p.m. The All-You-Care-To-Eat facility will transform into a carnival serving
all of your favorite snacks including funnel cakes, cotton candy and corn dogs. There will also be clowns and

* QUIRK THEATRE PRESENTS LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS: The Little Shop of Horrors is a campy, dark
musical comedy with a science fiction twist that features book & lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan
Menken. One of Off-Broadway’s longest running musicals and inspiration for 1986’s cult-classic film directed
by Frank Oz, Little Shop of Horrors is directed by Phil Simmons with music direction by R. MacKenzie Lewis.

PERSONAL DIRECTORY CORRECTIONS/UPDATES: Personal Directory listings are populated through the

employee’s supervisor should update the information through a link located on the supervisor’s My.Emich
Employee tab. Instructions are as follows:

EMU PUBLIC SAFETY TIPS AND REMINDERS: The EMU Police Department provides a variety of
community service programs focused on safety awareness for our residential halls, classrooms and campus.
These include crime prevention seminars, and training sessions and programs on sexual assault and alcohol
awareness for faculty, staff and students.
The EMU Police Department use high visibility foot patrols, mobile patrols, bicycle patrols and an extensive
video monitoring system to help deter crime. It is important to report crimes or suspicious activities
immediately -- police have a better opportunity to apprehend suspects and solve crimes. Please review the
information below and report any crimes or any suspicious activities. Reporting a crime or suspicious activity
can be done anonymously.
